UPDATED: The Burlington Hotel in Sandown has been sold at auction for £620,000, but the future of the property remains uncertain.
The freehold on the 68-bedroom hotel was auctioned on Thursday and attracted a winning bid of £620,000. Although the identity of the new owner is not being revealed, they are believed to be local to the area.
It has been confirmed that it is the hotel manager’s intention to vacate on Wednesday (4th November) with the removal of all fixtures and fittings, but offers in relation to the ongoing management of the property and the fixtures and fittings can still be made. It is not clear if The Burlington will continue to operate as a hotel.
UPDATE @ 13:45 – It has been confirmed to Island Echo that The Burlington is to continue trading as a hotel after a deal was struck between the current hotel manager and the property’s new owner.
The hotel, which boasts an indoor heated swimming pool with spa, steam room and 68 en-suite bedrooms, is set to reopen fully this month.
The business will continue to be run as at present.
