A woman from Sandown has been banned from driving for 17 months after she was found to be more than twice the legal alcohol limit while behind the wheel of an electric car in the New Forest.
Emma Millard, 43, of Yaverland Road, appeared before Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Monday (11th August), where she admitted driving under the influence of alcohol.
The 43-year-old was stopped by Police on Ipers Bridge, near Beaulieu, on Sunday 9th February while driving a Skoda Enyaq 50 Edition – a fully electric vehicle.
Blood test results revealed that Millard had 201 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, significantly over the legal limit of 80 microgrammes.
Southampton Magistrates disqualified her from driving for 17 months, with the option to reduce the ban by 17 weeks if she completes a drink-driving rehabilitation course by 13th July 2026.
Millard was also fined £120 and ordered to pay a £48 victim surcharge.

So Numpty islanders are now drink driving on the mainland.
Bang up all drink drivers.
So why mention the “fuel” type of the vehicle? Has it any relevance to the offence of drink driving?
By the way what was she wearing at the time?
In parts of Scotland Buckfast Tonic Wine is known as “electric soup”.
Only £120 fine ?
The model of car was only launched in July 2024 so this woman has a relatively new car which is upwards of £37k new, has presumably been able to pay to take it to the mainland and buy booze yet gets away with a £120 fine and no costs despite being two and a half times the legal limit. Is it any wonder people take no notice of the law? Plus she will only be banned for just over a year if she does the course. She must be laughing her head off.
