Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat has launched in response to concerns for a boat seen drifting off Sandown this afternoon (Monday).
Volunteer crew members were tasked to launch by Solent Coastguard at around 16:30 and are now alongside the small motor boat, which appears to have 4 persons on board.
Coastguard Rescue Officers from Bembridge are on the shore at Yaverland keeping a visual on the casualty vessel.
It’s thought the boat has suffered engine failure.
Eyewitnesses say the vessel has been drifting from the north for sometime, prompting a concern for those on board.
UPDATE – The boat is now being towed to Bembridge.
