Ryde Castle is getting set to re-open the doors to customers after 3 months of being boarded up.
Windows and doors have been covered for the past 12 weeks as the popular hotel and restaurant went into hibernation.
Government lockdown rules have meant that the Esplanade premises has been unable to trade, much like many other local businesses hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, things are looking up and it is hoped that the hospitality sector will be able to resume business from 4th July.
General Manager Sean Vernall said:
“We’re well underway with our plans for reopening the pub, and on behalf of myself and the team at Ryde Castle, we look forward to welcoming all of our guests again as soon as it’s safe to do so”.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to confirm the early July opening of the hospitality industry in the coming weeks.

“Would Sir like the Window seat to watch the town drunks, urinating in the Esplanade Gardens this evening.”
“No, I think we will take the Western aspect, to perhaps observe the stabbing and bottle attacks for a change today Geeves”
“Of course Sir, one could always dine El Fresco and observe the dogs business being bagged from the Pavilion Lawns”
“Yes, I think one will. One does gain a super view of the Chav boy racers using the front as a race track, and one can even see the Mc Donald’s containers being cast from their speeding cars, glinting in the setting sun”
Very funny, and almost too true.
Ryde does seem a frightening place to go to now. Bert likes the pub at Newchurch for food. Gets busy mind. Shan’t go to eat out for a long while not until people aren’t dying no more.
