The RSPCA has teamed up with Pets at Home stores to raise vital funds to help tackle animal cruelty.
The animal welfare charity’s staff and volunteers from 82 branches and centres across England and Wales are working with Pets at Home to raise money and meet fellow animal lovers at their local stores from 21st-23rd February 2020.
The fundraising weekend is taking place inside Pets at Home stores, offering an opportunity for fellow animal lovers to gain insight into the work of the RSPCA as well as supporting the vital role that branches play in caring for and rehoming animals.
Chris Sherwood, Chief Executive at the RSPCA, said:
“We are looking forward to teaming up with Pets at Home and hope that throughout the weekend animal lovers will support their local RSPCA branch and the incredible work that they do in caring for pets and rehoming animals in need.
“As a charity, we rely on donations and volunteers to ensure our network of incredible branches and centres can continue to help animals. The RSPCA rescue more than 100,000 animals every year and we wouldn’t be able to do that without the generous donations of our supporters and fellow animal lovers.”
During the weekend, Pets at Home customers will have the opportunity to donate to the RSPCA at the checkout, as well as support local branch activity which helps the animal welfare charity to continue to create a world that is kinder to animals.
Over 400 Pets at Home stores are taking part supporting more than 80 branches, including six in the South West. The activities will include in-store fundraising, donations at the tills to help feed animals in RSPCA care and the sale of RSPCA merchandise. Many of the branches will also be in-store to play games, and even bring along a furry friend or two who is looking for a home.
The RSPCA has worked with Pets at Home for more than 10 years and a big part of this is the VIP customer loyalty scheme. Every time a customer uses their loyalty card it raises funds for their chosen animal charity. These funds are distributed to charities in the form of vouchers to spend online or in store and the RSPCA receive over £200,000 annually in vouchers providing enrichment toys, bedding, food to animals in RSPCA care.

All animals deserve kind treatment whether pets or ones we will then be eating. We feel pain, and fear, and so we have no excuse to give either to any animal if it is at all preventable.
Hope they raise lots of money, AND it is spent wisely on animals care.
RSPCA got Double Standards.. They pretending How They Care About Animal Cruelty.. Yet Some Meat Products Got Sticker on Them ‘RSPCA Aprroved’.. That I Call Big Human Hypocrisy.. Care for Some Type of Animals but Supporting to Exploit Others For Human Greed NO Need.. Won’t Be Supporting Them….
Yes, the cognitive dissonance is strong with the RSPCA. Asked for a veggie burger at one of their events a few years ago. I’ve never seen anyone look so surprised.
“Oh, we don’t do those”. Just feels like a social club for middle aged people with dogs and cats, the RSPCA.
Yes there are still organisations who only cater for normal peoples dietary requirements.
Those with weird self imposed limitations of food intake, and those with real medical oddities perhaps should package up their own food at home, rather than moaning as it is ‘they’ who are a pain in the butt to charities, having to cater for every odd whim of the ‘look at me’ people.
Then you can quietly eat your tufu or quorn and save the planet as well as avoid dire disease whilst still allowing all else to enjoy our short lives without guilt or self imposed worry.
