The man heading up the NHS Test and Trace app team has thanked Islanders who have already downloaded the new mobile application and has urged others to follow suit.
Simon Thompson, Managing Director of NHS Test and Trace app, has said in an open letter published today (Friday) that thousands of people have already used their Apple or Android device to download the COVID-19 app, which is new and improved from the previous one trialled on the Isle of Wight in May.
You can download the app by visiting https://covid19.nhs.uk/. Once downloaded, use your unique code received through the post to login.
In his letter, Simon says:
“As an Isle of Wight resident, you will now have received a letter inviting you to be one of the first people in the country to download and use the new NHS Test and Trace app.
“Thousands of you have already installed the app on your phones. By doing so, you are not only helping us to improve it ahead of the national rollout, but also helping to control the spread of coronavirus in your communities.
“I want to thank you all for your feedback and support in our mission so far, which has been second to none. You downloaded the first app in your thousands and provided us with valuable insight that we took forward. While the first version had its flaws, it is thanks to you that we have a new and improved version that will play a key role in our mission to beat this virus.
“If you have not yet downloaded the app, I urge you to come on board.
“For those residents who have not yet used the app, I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight the major differences between this app and the first version. This is so much more than just a contact tracing app – it has a range of features which will give you and your community maximum freedom at minimum risk.
“It uses the latest in security technology to ensure every app user is entirely anonymous, and the only thing being tracked is the virus. It cannot track your whereabouts and it cannot tell anyone – and that includes the government – who or where you are. The app does not hold personal information about you – such as your name, address or date of birth.
“The new app has been built in partnership with some of the biggest companies and institutions from around the world. We have worked closely with Google, Apple, The Alan Turing Institute and Oxford University and the teams building similar apps in other countries and that is why we are confident that the app works.
“The aim is to help you to understand if you are at risk of infection so you can take action to protect yourself and your community.
“In doing so, it will help us to control the spread of coronavirus and help us all to get back to the things we love. The app logs the time and distance you’ve spent near to anyone, even if you don’t know them, so it can alert you if that person later tests positive for COVID-19. It helps you to easily book a free test, and quickly get the result.
“The app has a range of additional, enhanced features that will help to reduce personal and public risk from COVID-19 as part of the end-to-end NHS Test and Trace service.
“An alert level on the app will let you know the level of coronavirus risk in your area. QR check-ins at local businesses will let you know whether you have visited a venue where you may have met someone who later tests positive for covid-19.
“A new symptom checker will allow users to check if they have coronavirus symptoms and order a free test all in one place.
“If you are told to self-isolate, a timer feature will help count down that period and you will be given relevant advice.
“The more people who can help us to trial this app, the more we can make improvements and ensure it is the very best product for the nation.
“Every single person who downloads the app will be playing a vital role in making sure we get this right and will help us get back to the things we love. On behalf of the whole app team and Test and Trace service, I would like to thank the Isle of Wight residents for your support in this major public health response”.

Probably should have used this version in the first place eh?
No…. I won’t be downloading this, and I don’t think many will after the last fiasco.
I will not be downloading it either. jHub are still involved, a department witthin the Ministry of Defence.
Yep, I believe they are calling it Project OASIS.
I won’t be downloading it because my phone doesn’t have apps and even if it did I still wouldn’t download it.
It doesn’t work on my phone !!
why down load it when there messing with the numbers any way just to make this fake decease seem more real
While waiting for the link I posted to be published (maybe) Just pop along to bitchute and search for Plandemic 2 | INDOCTORNATION . It is a really good Documentary.
I know some address’s on the Island have not received a letter giving them the information. So much for it working if they can not get that correct.
Great if I could, phone to old!!!!!
Its OK only isle of wight people having the app isn’t it a bit pointless when there is so many people here visiting
Got the letter and it went in the bin as my mobile can’t support apps, so once again politicians assume we have the latest technology, but if you don’t tuff.
The requirements for this app are not bad, you can have a phone up to 7 years old now and it would still work.
Not if you have a bog standard pay as you go phone.
Just a thought. If the app does not hold any personal info about you such as your name, address or age of birth how can it know if after being advised to self isolate that you actually do. If it’s true what Jon Choo said about jHub (a department within the Ministry of Defence) being involved I’m a little bit concerned on what the hell they are there for. I can see where Mr Justice’s predictions are coming from. Spooky and alarming at the same time.
The App may or may not track you but the inclusion of four unique codes on the letter means that the App operator can gather data on which housholds are downloading the App. i.e. who they probably are and where they probably live.
If it was anonymous then we wouldn’t all be given a unique code.
4 codes per household and for over 18 year olds only ! !
I have a smart phone that may be able to download the app, my partner has a phone that can not download apps.
I still don’t trust this government, so no apps here.
Wonders what would happen if we passed all these unused codes to visitors?
No chance .fake app for fake virus .
