Commuters heading to and from the Isle of Wight are once again being hit with travel disruption as Red Funnel cancels a number of Red Jet crossings this morning (Monday).
After several weeks of disruption, there are yet more issues with Red Jet 4 – this time a technical issue with the steering calibration.
As a result of the problem, the 06:05 and 07:15 crossings from Southampton have been pulled, alongside the 06:40 and 07:50 from West Cowes.
It’s unclear at this stage if there will be any further cancellations today.
Red Funnel apologises for the inconvenience to your journey.

Never thought I’d say this, but We need a bridge! Too many times people ste let down by ferries. It puts untold stress on people
Infinitely more stress with a bridge.
So where does your pie in the sky idea of a bridge leave the island and where will you intend it to come out on the mainland, it will be interesting to get your views on this.
oh dear! Acidic people who know nothing. Do you actually not know that there will be a feasibility study to determine those things?
So they keep saying but they cannot get the support neither the funding for it.
Its nothing to do with acidic It’s to do with reality which is something you find hard to grasp.
Will there? Was there? Who will pay for that? Not Mr Feeney’s lot, for sure.
look this bridge crap has to stop it an’it never going to happen..would cost 100s of millions…
We need ferry’s to be run as a not for profit public service. Also better engineered vessels would go along way towards better reliability.
A bit more spent on maintenance would probably suffice – but that would make a small dent in the profits so won’t happen.
Better engineered vessels would make a very big dent in the profits so definitely won’t happen.
This Government are all about companies making profits at the expense of the customers and “public service” and “not for profit” are abhorrent to them.
There’s too much traffic here as it is let alone having a fixed link
Why is it usually the crossing in the earlier part of the morning which get cancelled, whether through ‘technical difficulties’ or staff shortages?
It seems to be a common theme with both Red Funnel and Wight link.
Ref Funnel need to invest into a more reliable craft as more seem to be in for repair than working. It’s a hit or miss service and no good for people trying to rely on it.
