Police, fire and ambulance crews are in attendance at a road traffic collision that has taken place in a field off Brading Downs this afternoon (Monday).
The incident occurred just before 15:45 and has seen a Red VW Golf crash through a fence at the viewpoint car park and career downhill coming to rest in a field.
Marks can be seen throughout the field, whilst the fence from the car park to the Brading Down Nature Reserve has been completely wiped out.
Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary are at the scene alongside paramedics from Isle of Wight Ambulance Service – including the Enhanced Care Paramedic and the Operational Commander.
4 pumping appliances from Newport and Ryde are in attendance at the scene also.
Firefighters are currently working to free at least 1 casualty from the vehicle.
UPDATE @ 16:30 – 1 casualty has been extracted from the vehicle and has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital.
The car is to remain in situ until recovery is arranged.
UPDATE @ 18:25 – It has been confirmed that those involved in the incident were in the viewpoint car park at the time of the crash and not travelling along the road.

Where does it say a 91 year old woman was driving??? She could easily have been a passenger sitting in the car while the driver went for a walk.
It could just as easily have been a 42 year old junior doctor, on strike, looking for a bit of off road excitement.
