Men, women and children of all ages are being invited to join in a day of fun and sporting activities and ‘Wight’s fight against cancer’ as a brand new Summer event is launched – Race for All.
Fighting against an illness that affects 1 in 3 people, cancer, Race for All is an advanced alternative to the Race for Life event, which is not being held on the Isle of Wight this year. The event, to be held on Sunday 17th August, will be taking place at Medina Leisure Centre.
Race for All will consist of two runs; a 5,000m competitive race for both male and female entrants, followed by a
‘Fun Run’! Alongside the races, all attendees will have the opportunity to visit the Try-Sport village. This will be showcasing a wide variety of sports clubs and governing bodies, promoting their work and sporting opportunities and how you can get involved.
Organisers B7 have also announced today (Tuesday) that Nike will be there to promote the latest sporting equipment and clothing.
Managing Director of B7, Jamie Bray, is excited to launch the first Race For All. He said:
“I’m so proud that everything is coming together and that the island is able to join in the fight to beat Cancer. I recognised the disappointment when a well known fundraising event was withdrawn from the island but Race For All is an opportunity to have an event of our own.
“I am overwhelmed by the support of the island residents and businesses, as well as the Local Authority. I ask you to join in and be a part of something different, that will raise money for such a worthwhile cause”.
Reynolds & Read are the title sponsors of Race For All. Kieron Read, Director, said:
“It was an opportunity that I didn’t have to think twice about. We all have been affected by Cancer and I know that I would like to take a stand against it.
I am confident that B7 will offer yet another fantastic event, after being involved in other events run by Jamie and his team”.
Entry forms for Race For All are available from the 30th of April. You can download the form and find out more information by visiting www.b7events.co.uk/raceforall or emailing [email protected].
Entry fee is £10.00 for adults and £5.00 for under 16s, with every penny of sponsorship going to Cancer Research UK.
