UPDATED: POWERCUT HITS WOOTTON LEAVING MORE THAN 115 POSTCODES WITHOUT SUPPLY

Over 115 postcodes in Wootton and the surrounding areas are currently without power this morning (Monday). The outage was first reported at around 09:55 this morning with around 118 postcodes and a total of 1,800 customers without supply. Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) say they hope to have power back by 13:05. Island Echo understands that several sets of traffic lights have been intermittently impacted by the outage. UPDATE @ 10:32 – Wootton Primary School has closed its doors as a result of the power cut. Parents are being asked to collect their children as soon as possible. UPDATE @ 11:10 – The scale of the outage has been reduced with 17 postcode areas now affected, which is around 150 customers. No estimated time of restoration has been established by engineers.
