Police have descended on a wooded area of Newtown, following reports of a missing man this afternoon (Friday).
No less than 7 units have taken up position in the vicinity of Town Lane, and officers – including dog units – are present.
A search of the woodland near to the normally peaceful and idyllic creek is underway, with units scouring the footpaths of the nature reserve in an effort to locate the missing individual.
Hampshire Constabulary’s ARV unit has deployed its drone to conduct an aerial search, whilst dog units sweep the ground.

UPDATE @ 15.50 – Following a search of the woodland and footpaths between Town Lane and Newtown Creek, officers have located the missing male safe and well.
Officers have now stood down their search efforts, with units beginning to leave the Newtown area.
