UPDATED: 5 Police vehicles have responded to an incident at an address in East Cowes tonight (Tuesday).
At around 19:45 officers situated in Ryde and Shanklin – including a dog unit – rushed to Orchard Road in the town.
Neighbours have said that the vehicles pulled up in a hurry before entering a property on the east side of the road.
Officers have detained a male and are taking him in for questioning. It remains unclear what has prompted the large, simultaneous response.
UPDATE @ 09:22 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that a 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault, occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH) following a domestic incident.
He remains in custody at Newport Police Station this morning.
Police were on scene at the property for several hours last night and were still present at 23:30.
