6 Police units are in attendance at an address in the Haylands area of Ryde this afternoon (Wednesday), where negotiations are taking place.
The incident area, at the junction of Corbett Road and Pound Mead, has now been cordoned off while Police talk with a man who has smashed a window in an upper storey flat.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary officers are using protection shields at the scene.
A total of 4 marked units are on scene, alongside an unmarked Armed Response Vehicle (ARV) and an unmarked dog unit.
UPDATE @ 20:30 – The situation continues more than 3 hours after Police first arrived at Corbett Road.
Additional resources have arrived and cordons remain in place in the normally quiet residential area.
UPDATE @ 20:54 – Mainland riot Police have now arrived on the Island having been rushed across the Solent.
Clad in protective clothing and armed with shields, officers have moved in to resolve the situation.
UPDATE @ 21:50 – The situation has been brought to a successful conclusion with 1 male arrested.
Riot police stormed the property and removed the individual at the centre of the hostile incident.

Trouble is the do gooders would stop it happening, just like they stop proper long term imprisonment for the lowest of the low scum we have a problem with on a daily basis. Paedos and terrorists should get the same treatment to make it safe for us and our kids, but it will never happen all the while those who are not affected by it all, are having a say in it, and are encouraging and aiding abetting and protecting the rats to carry on offending.
What a waste of police time and resources when they could be dealing with and preventing other crimes. Armed officers and dog in ,resist then tough. Police pick on and abuse easy ,but when a challenge they chicken out.

Theres nothing worse then people commenting useless murmuring with no consequence to the dangers they actually get put in. You should be ashamed of yourself referring to people who deal with volatile situations as chicken when they utilize as many safe options to resolve a high octane situations as humanly possible but hey if you think you could do better do more than offer codswallop that comes in the form of conspiracy.
