A large number of Police officers have descended on the sleepy village of Havenstreet this lunchtime (Easter Sunday) in what Island Echo is being told is the search for a wanted individual.
Multiple resources are currently on scene at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway having responded to the area at around midday. A total of 8 Police vehicles are in the area.
Specialist officers are operating a drone to sweep the vast open area from the skies above.
Meanwhile, volunteers at the railway are being questioned and their details taken as officers continue their on-scene enquiries.
It is currently unclear what has prompted such a significant response to a normally quiet area of the Island. The area of focus appears to be the showground arena on the east side of the tracks.
UPDATE @ 17:15 – Police have confirmed that a 64-year-old man has been arrested after a child was approached and spoken to by a man.
