Police officers were called to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport this lunchtime (Friday) to detain a male who had been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation.
Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were called to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport shortly after 12:10 this afternoon to help to detain a suspect as part of an ongoing investigation.
At the scene, a 25-year-old man from Newport – who had previously been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent – was receiving treatment at the hospital after his arrest.
During the incident at the hospital, an officer was assaulted, but not injured.
A spokesperson from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has said:
“The man has now been transported to custody at Newport Police Station whilst our enquiries continue.”
Seen it, prisoners go to the front of the queue. Should have their own medical facilities or even better, none at all.
Oh yes,let’s have a convicted prisoner sat next to friends or family in the waiting room, they are not all in for parking offences. !!
They should be shackled to the chair and made to wait their turn, with everyone else mocking them

Last time I was there, the staff from across the road brought in a ‘guest of His majesty’, straight through, no waiting, it was like private medical care the way they dealt with the toe rag, and before anyone says that they require treatment too sometimes, I totally agree, they need knee capping most of ’em!
