Officers from Hampshire & Isle Of Wight Constabulary are in attendance at a road traffic collision on the main road into East Cowes this evening (Sunday).
The incident has occurred on Whippingham Road near the junction with Folly Lane and Alverstone Road.
It has seen a Vauxhall and Hyundai collide with one another, both vehicles have sustained front end damage.
Island Echo understands that no serious injuries have been sustained.
Neither of the involved vehicles are blocking the road with traffic still able to pass.
The drivers of the vehicles have been able to manoeuvre the damaged motors to a safe area.
A single fire appliance from Newport was called to the scene however they quickly stood down once the situation was assessed.
UPDATE @ 19:30 – Bartletts have arrived on scene and are recovering the vehicle.
The road will once again be open momentarily.
Be another crash in a minute on the dual carriage way for the last 30 minutes I have heard motorbikes racing up and down constantly

Fast lane? There’s a fast lane? Perhaps you mean the overtaking lane or filtering lane, but that would mean you’d read the Highway Code, sp perhaps you don’t mean that.
There is no fast lane, it’s just a dual carriageway.

Too busy, apparently, to get out and be a visual deterrent in troubled areas and yet they can turn up with a fire engine in tow for a 2 car collision.

That junction has bee notoriously dangerous for the 60 years or so I’ve been driving, but if no-one actually dies, no action taken.
you say that the junction is notoriously dangerous,..and yet also comment that in 60 years, no-one’s actuually died there,.. so it can’t really be that dangerous can it ?
from my experience, the secret with junctions like that, is not to pull out when another car is coming…
