Police were called to Shanklin earlier today (Friday) after a fight broke out between 2 men as a result of a dog being assaulted.
Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed that officers were alerted to the incident at 10:52 this morning with reports of 2 men fighting in the street outside Poundland, on Regent Street.
By the time officers attended the 2 men had already dispersed.
Island Echo understands that the fight broke out after a dog was hit by a male.
Anyone with information should call Police on 101.

If someone can abuse their dog in public like that, what the HELL does he/she have to suffer behind closed doors??
Not to condone or support violence, but jolly good on the man that whacked the abuser. If he hadn’t of done it he would still think that it’s acceptable to bully an innocent animal and carried on doing it for the rest of the poor dog’s life. If I had seen him hurt the dog, I would of done the same or at the very least educated him about abusing animals.
The RSPCA would of done nothing about it, the suffering would continue.
Their are too many people that turn a blind eye to the abuse of animals and children.
SO STAND UP!!
Blimey, Now for the Truth and others – is that the truth or your truth you are basing your response on? All it said in the report that I saw was that The Echo understands a dog was hit by a male. We don’t know why or the circumstances or if the dog was menacing or even attacking the male or who the owner was or any other details, yet you are ready to praise someone for attacking someone else, and, worse, say you would do it yourself and rant on about prosecutions and tking the dog away. Your obsessive use of CAPITALS also worries me. Scary if this is how some people come to a judgement.
The pitchforks are freshly sharpened and them there torches be a flaming.
A good old uneducated island posse is on the rampage. Common sense and rational thinking, and questioning of the media dont seem to matter much.
The only reason that the police are appealing for witnesses about this, is so that they can prosecute the Hero that whacked the animal abuser, whilst the abuser gets away with it!!
WHAT ABOUT THE DOG???
Much too quick to make arrests, rather than PROSECUTING the VILE BULLIES that get away with this sort of completely unacceptable behaviour on a daily basis!!
All these gutless people who stand back and allow this to happen, by choosing to do NOTHING, along with the animal abusers are the ones that should be PROSECUTED.
Take the dog away from him and rehome.
Take the dog away and rehome ?? You assume it was the owner of the dog that hit the animal then ?
Your commenting on half a story and using to much guesswork. …. maybe the dog attacked one the gents. In that case, If it was me, then i too would clobber the dog if it was attacking me.
You don’t know what happened so turn of your CAPSLOCK and go back to sleep.
There is a post on fb from someone that was there and no the dog didnt attack anyone it didnt even standup for the guy when he got hit
No mate !
Wiynd your kneck in and let people assume what happened, as there’s not enough information.
But we can presume what happened,
And it ain’t your version.
Why don’t you go back to sleep.
And stop mincing about outside Poundland.
Careful mate, we can’t have logic and sense and proportionality coming into this opportunity for people obviously in need of help going off on one
.
Another half story from IE, turning reader’s against each other.
Hope the poor dog is ok and hopefully not affected too much to not trust any male that shows any violence ☹️
I would have belted the dog owner,no animal deserves any cruelty done to it,I would quite happily buy the person who hit the dog owner a beer or two
Why was the dog be assaulted? Had it attacked someone? Was the owner of the dog assaulting his dog? Not a very clear report of what actually occurred. If it was the owner being cruel to his dog and the other bloke gave him a good hiding, I applaud him for doing so. What does this poor dog have to endure behind closed doors???? Needs investigating by the RSPCA.
RSPCA won’t do anything… the percentage of donated money that actually goes in animal care is disgraceful, majority goes on wages
