Residents and visitors are invited to Sandown Esplanade on Saturday (19th July) for this year’s Police and Community Day, bringing together emergency services, community groups and local charities for a day of information and activities.
Running from 10:00 to 15:00, the free event will showcase the work of blue light services and offer advice, support and guidance from a range of local organisations. Visitors will be able to see specialist equipment in use, get hands-on with interactive stands and find out how to get more involved in community projects.
Among those taking part this year are the Army Cadets – 3 Troop Sandown, Community Action Isle of Wight, the Community Safety Partnership, Fire Cadets, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, HM Coastguard, HM Prison Service, Isle of Wight Ambulance Training & Community Response, Maritime Volunteer Service, Paragon, Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat, St John Ambulance and Wight SAR (Search & Rescue).
The event is supported by Island Roads, which is managing and supporting the site on Sandown Esplanade and Pier Street.
Everyone is welcome to head along, find out more and enjoy a fun, informative day by the sea.

Whilst there it might be a good idea to remove
the vehicles who are evading paying parking fees
to park.
There are at least 5 non paying vehicles parked on
the pavement opposite Sandown Pier outside the
old Tourist Information Centre
Why should other motorists be expected to pay to
park if these vehicles “DON’T PAY”
Where are the IW Council Civil Enforcement Officers or
Town Council on this matter.
IF EVER I WAS ISSUED A PARKING TICKET IN SANDOWN
I WOULD REFUSE TO PAY, SEEMS TO BE 1 RULE FOR
SOME MOTORISTS AND 1 RULE FOR OTHER MOTORISTS
IW RULES ARE A JOKE, THE ISLAND NEEDS A MAYOR
LIKE SADIQ KHAN,
NOT ONLY WOULD HE FINE THEM FOR EVADING PAYING
TO PARK, HE WOULD HAVE THEM TOWED AWAY!
