Police are said to be investigating reports that dogs have fallen ill after visiting Appley Park in Ryde, where it is feared poison has been left for animals to eat.
Earlier this week social media lit up with concerned dog walkers reporting that their animals had become unwell after allegedly eating something suspicious within the area of the park.
Now, 3 more piles of what appears to be dog meat have appeared on Appley Lane – with fears it has been laced with a poison.
The lane between Appley Road and the park itself has been described by a local as the ‘M25 for dog walkers’.
Councillor Karen Lucioni has been made aware of concerns and says that Police are now investigating the situation.
Dog walkers are being urged to keep dogs on leads and to be vigilant when exercising their animals in the area.
The 3 new piles, which have appeared overnight, are near the top of Appley Lane by the poo bin. At the time of publishing they remain in-situ.
UPDATE @ 15:42 – A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that patrols are taking place in the area.
In a statement, it has been said:
“Officers from the local Neighbourhood Policing Team will be in the area today conducing enquiries. If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to talk to them”.

So nobody thought to get rid of these piles of suspected poisoned dog meat! Why not just get rid of it? Not like the police will do anything and better to remove the possible threat.

Stupid to state as a fact that it is about dog mess. I’m a dog owner and I don’t like people not picking it up so I don’t find your comment particularly relevant. I would assume that it is someone who hates dogs, and not someone who is expecting a dog to bag it and bin it! Because as far as I am aware it is the innocent dogs being poisoned and not owners who do not pick up their dogs mess.

I think taking a photo & leaving it there for an innocent dog to eat is totally irresponsible.

Hey everyone that is most definitely not three piles of poisoned dog food, but instead it is three piles of partially digested dog puke. Try taking a good look at the pictures before passing judgement. Maybe some dogs got ill from eating spoiled dog puke. Call off the hounds!

Zoom in and you can see they are dog nuts. Partially digested but clearly dog nuts. I don’t think you would have removed dog puke.
As a dog owner who does pick up after our two, I always feel sorry for those dogs who have the bad luck of the draw to end with owners who have such lack of regard for others. If they don’t pick up when in public, dread to think what goes on when caring for the dog at home.
Maybe the plod could remove the suspicious items for testing, before we all jump to conclusions. Just an idea?

Why on the subject of dog poo pick up , I was looking out my window just after the bin men had emptied the recycle bin ,to my amazement there was a dog walker with dog on lead the dog dropped a bombshell albeit she did pick up but put the rather large pile in my neighbours recycling bin, that will stay there I thought for 2 weeks ,,,, very responsible dog owner NOT
