A pedestrian has been hit by a car on a busy crossroads junction in Ryde tonight (Tuesday) – the same location where a pedestrian was struck by a van yesterday.
Police and paramedics are currently on scene at St John’s Road in the town, at the junction with the High Street, where a pedestrian has been struck by a white Skoda Fabia.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service is on scene with a paramedic crew and an enhanced care paramedic tending to the casualty.
The collision occurred at around 21:00.
The female driver of the Fabia is being spoken to by Police as initial investigations get underway into the circumstances of the collision.
Island Echo reported yesterday about a male who had been injured after being struck by a van on the same junction, resulting in head injuries.
The upper High Street is currently closed between St John’s Road and Well Street whilst emergency services deal with the situation.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY – Island Echo understands a male in his 70s received hospital treatment but has since been released, escaping any serious injuries.

I’m not casting aspersions here but I use this crossing daily and you do get used to the sequence of the lights… they have been altered a few times when various roadworks have occurred so I’m extra cautious now when I cross – oddly enough a police vehicle not using blues and twos ran a red light there on Saturday afternoon as I was approaching the junction!
I just hope all parties concerned are ok no matter whose fault it may have been.
Added £150 to the value of the Skoda then lol.
Should have got the bulletproof glass package
You’re showing your age! This was funny 30-40 years ago almost.
Guessing you drive a cheap shitty car if we’re making assumptions, or you’re some skinnyfat boomer lol
Lol at all the skinnyfats who can’t bench 225lbs downvoting me
Better to push the button and wait for the green man.
God, there’s more and more nutters on our roads, a lot of them comment on here, you aways know who they are when they make excuses for all the idiots….and then go on to insult other peoples comments….
“More and more nutters……a lot of them comment on here….and then go on to insult other peoples comments….”
Hmmm, haven’t you just done the same by calling commenters nutters, presumably just because they share a different view from yourself?
I’m right to insult bad driving, no-one should defend idiots that kill on our roads, full stop….
Yes, many people are angry and take it out on those around them, especially whilst driving, it is an extension of their personality. Life has invariably dealt them a poor hand of cards. Life is not particularly happy for them. An absolute moron in a bmw attempted but failed to over take me on the race course roundabout, succeeded in doing so when on fairlee road at high speed and was then quickly stuck behind a queue all the way into Newport. A prime example of a defective personality. Perhaps he felt better for doing this – i feel better for thinking how much petrol he wasted.
Two times in a row, huzzah. Can we now close the street, research how to make it safer, apply fixes and re-open then? Just the standard post-accident procedure in most books on urbanism. Who is ultimately responsible for allowing for a street to continue without changes after the first accident? Perhaps area is ill-suited for cars entirely if there are a lot of pedestrians?
Either arogant drivers in to much of a rush trying to get through the lights as they change instead of slowing down and preparing to stop and stopping if lights start to change as the highway code says you must do when approaching ANY traffic lights or moron padestrians just walking across on a green light thinking they can move faster than a car and not understanding how the new rules brought in regarding padestrians and cars at junctions is ment to work FYI to all you idiot padestrians this rule dose not apply to traffic lights traffic light rules are same as they always have been red light you can cross green light wait or you will die simples for arrogant driver’s slow down if lights go amber it means stop not gun it through.
Maybe people need to read the new high way code drivers as well as people walking. pedestrian DO NOT always have right of way when crossing the road, as some seen to think they have look it up drivers and pedestrians maybe then less accident will happen.
Another f moran driver, most probably on drugs or been drinking.
