Paramedics are tending to a man who has been struck by a van in Ryde this evening (Monday).
The incident happened at the junction of High Street and St John’s Road at just before 18:00.
Island Echo understands the Mercedes Sprinter delivery van was travelling down the High Street when a male – described as being half in the road and half on the pavement – was struck by the vehicle.
As a result, the man was knocked unconscious and has sustained head injuries.
Blood is evident on the pavement.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service is on scene alongside Police, who have spoken to the van driver.
The road remains open with some minor delays.
Narrow pavement, narrow road, dodgy. Hope the chap recovers OK.
