A small part of the pavement on Newport High Street has been sectioned off after slates fell from a shop roof onto the pavement below in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).
Police became aware of the situation in the early hours of the morning and shortly after asked operatives from Island Roads to attend and secure the area.
As a result, a large barrier has been erected outside the discount store which at the moment remains closed.
Large amounts of debris can be seen on the path outside – the adjacent shop Card Factory remains open.
It was just last week (11th July) that slates fell from the roof above the nearby Grace’s Bakery.
Previously, back in February fire crews were called to Newport High Street where the Aerial Ladder Platform was used to inspect the roof above Card Factory.
Are the CCTV films from the well-hidden out-of-sight toilets in Post Office Lane being checked I wonder?
