A plan for greenfield homes on the edge of an Island village has won the support of parish councillors and the Isle of Wight National Landscape (IWNL) has no objection.
Mrs and Mr Willis sought outline planning consent for a bungalow and 2 chalet-style dwellings at Ladyacre Farm on Pan Lane in Niton, with two to three bedrooms for each home.
Island Roads previously objected, warning the proposal does not provide ‘adequate’ facilities to allow vehicles to enter and leave the proposed parking spaces, and a refuse vehicle to come and go, in a ‘satisfactory and safe’ manner.
Niton and Whitwell Parish Council said it ‘fully supports’ the Willis’ scheme in a letter to County Hall.
Nicky Downer, National Landscape planning officer, said:
“The site lies outside of the IWNL with the fields opposite forming the boundary line. The proposed dwellings are set down from the road at a lower level. There is a mature and high hedge forming the roadside boundary.
“Provided this hedge is protected and maintained as part of any approval and dwellings remain small scale, it is considered there would be minimal visual influence from the development upon the adjacent IWNL.
“For this reason, we have no objection to the application.”

The applicants’ agent, TF Property Solutions, previously said Niton’s historic and rural character will be reflected in the design approach and that the development would protect neighbouring amenity.
County Hall’s public consultation on proposal 26/00729/OUT closes today Friday and a decision is expected on 26th August.
