UPDATED: Paramedics have been battling to save the life of an unresponsive woman at a popular beach in the West Wight this evening (Monday).
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service deployed 2 ambulances to the scene at Colwell Bay at just before 18:20 following reports of a female unresponsive and in cardiac arrest.
Shocked bystanders have told Island Echo that CPR was given by a local first aider and later shocks were administered by the ambulance crews using a defibrillator.
The patient is said to have been wet and wearing wet suit clothing, as if she had been in the sea.
It is unknown at this time if the the efforts of emergency responders has been successful.
Emergency services have now left Colwell.
UPDATE @ 22:06 – The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service have confirmed that a woman in her 30s was rushed to St Mary’s Hospital earlier this evening having suffered a cardiac arrest.
