A power outage is affecting nearly 700 customers in the Bembridge area this morning (Monday).
The power cut was first reported at around 09:55.
Engineers from Scottish & Southern Electricity Network (SSEN) are aware of the outage and aim to have power restored by 13:00, however engineers aren’t currently in the area.
It remains unclear as to the severity of the situation.
A total of 53 postcodes have been affected with it estimated around 690 customers in the local area are without electricity as a result.
UPDATE @ 12:15 – An SSEN engineer is now onsite. It is hoped that all those affected will have power back by 14:00.

Dash it all. Just as I were about to visit an Aunt too.
Engineers don’t need to be on site as all that needs to be done is flick the switch back on. How can you be able to tell when power will be restored if nobody checks the fault. Answer is you can’t so more company bs
I take it you’re not an electrical engineer? Supply circuits are rerouted automatically and instantly in the event of a trip where safely possible (when your lights dim momentarily, that is when your supply is being switched out). If supplies cannot be instantly restored or there is an earth fault or equipment failure, an engineer has to attend.
Simply re-energising a tripped circuit without investigation is highly dangerous and totally irresponsible.
And that took nearly 3 hours to realise an engineer was needed on site. why don’t you wake up and smell the roses.
What are you on about? You obviously have unresolved issues around power transmission and grammer.
I have issues with all the lies and at least I can spell correctly
Maybe you can spell, but full stops and question mark usage is questionable.
You sound like you have a lot of issues to be fair.
No problems in the West Wight!
Hardly surprising since the report says ” 700 customers in the Bembridge area “
That’ll muck all the DFT’s bank holiday trip to their second homes right up, poor old Quentin, Sebastian & Theobold will have to play outside instead!
Oh Golly. Not good enough. We had our 2 teslas on charge at the time. And had to vacant our jacuzzi. Could not even groom our horses and dogs. Not happy. It was like the end of the world. Even had to have our steaks salmon and pink champagne sat on our yacht. Luckily we have a generator on board.I suppose the Bentley got taken out for a drive.Did cost me £15 on petrol though. How inconvenient for us people out here..
