Oli Nolan of Wightlink-Wight Mountain Cycle Race Team travelled to Crow, near Ringwood in the New Forest, for the final round of the Wessex Cyclocross season on Sunday (26th January).
With the arrival of Storm Eowyn, the muddy course was churned up and rutted after the previous races of the day, with intermittent rain downpours and gusts of up to 50mph making for interesting race conditions.
Starting on the front row of the grid, Oli got off to a fantastic start, running well inside the top 5 from the outset. The stormy conditions created an attritional race, with several parts of the course becoming quicker to dismount and run. Oli crossed the line in 5th position, one of this best results of the season.
Oli said:
“I am happy with 5th on a super tough course with inclement conditions, especially as I haven’t raced since well before Christmas. I have also earned another good set of points towards my overall league position.
“Thanks go to our sponsors, particularly Wightlink, as well as the organisers for putting on a fantastic event!”
