A car has crashed into a pub in Shanklin tonight (Wednesday) as a result of a collision with another car on a busy crossroads junction, leaving a massive crack visible at the entrance to the popular watering hole.
Police and paramedics are currently in attendance on Regent Street, where a black BMW 3-series has crashed into The Falcon pub.
The Beemer, with the ironic numberplate that reads ‘Oh Gosh’, careered into the pub on the corner of Falcon Cross Road after coming into contact with a Citroen C1.
Thankfully, no one bas been injured in the crash – but it could have been a different story if someone had been standing outside the pub at the time of impact.
Emergency services were called shortly before 20:55.
Roads remain open in the area.

So many useless drivers on the Island, so many drink and drug drivers, mobile phone users whilst driving and so many Idiots who park on pavements on the Island
The Island is a joke, there seems to be no rules when it comes to motoring on the Island.
IW Council are a joke, they have no idea what a Road or Pavement is
Don’t think the council is to blame for the driver not knowing what the rod or pavement is here??
True, but the Council employ Highways stewards who drive around and
they should pick up on Safety issues
Whoever is the steward for Shanklin should arrange for a speed hump to
be installed at this dangerous junction.
There are so many UNSAFE roads, some roads have Bus Stops in the wrong place.
In Sandown when you drive down Melville Street there are 2 bus stops
1 at one end and one at the other end, due to vehicles parking opposite the bus stops
when buses are there, vehicles have to wait until the bus moves.
Place Double Yellow lines opposite the bus stops, therefore it does not affect traffic movement.
Sadly the Island is run by idiots who don’t have a clue.
Talking about idiots parking on Pavements
Great Preston Road in Ryde, the road where you can park your
Vehicles 24/7 on pavements blocking walkways and making the Road narrow
for vehicles to pass each other safely
The tenants of Great Preston Rd set the rules, not the Council.
A Yellow Vauxhall Corsa permanently parks on the pavement outside the Council Houses
along Great Preston Road.
Pavements are for pedestrians not for vehicles.
No. 90 Great Preston Road obviously have no idea
There are no Council houses in Great Preston Road. You always mention this, but fail to acknowledge or realise, the Council do not own any houses in Great Preston Road.
Well social housing then.
Just stop selfish idiots making Roads and Pavements Unsafe.
I am fed up when driving along Great Preston Road I have to
come to a complete stop to oncoming traffic because some
p’rat decides to park a car outside No.90 of the Social Houses along this busy Road.
Park on the opposite side of the Road so other vehicles can travel safely.
F.F.S
It appears on the Island 1 Household can affect so many persons
TOW AWAY VEHICLES THAT PARK ON PAVEMENTS
Double Yellow lines are going to be placed along Great Preston Road
very shortly, but will it stop the “idiots” breaking the rules!!
I think the persons who park selfishly on pavements are stupid and
they know they can get away with making other people’s lives difficult.
I would like to see the Council employ Towing Companies to remove
Vehicles causing obstruction by parking on Pavements.
Fine them heavily, they won’t park on a pavement again.
They would have a field day down Great Preston Road
Between Preston Close and Nicholson Road
I am surprised that the Fire Brigade, Royal Mail and Southern Vectis have not complained about the idiots who park on the pavement along Great Preston Road.
It makes it difficult for them with oncoming traffic.
The District Steward who is responsible for the Ryde area should park
outside the old Council Houses and see for himself what happens when idiots
Park their vehicles on the pavement.
Good point.
All Roads should be free to travel along safely.
Great Preston Road is a very busy Road, much busier than Marlborough Road,
something needs to be done.
I am not too sure who on the Island is responsible for road safety,
It appears no one is.
Speed is also a big problem along Great Preston Road
20mph should be the limit along this Road.
If IW Council and Bob Seely are concerned about the climate
they should cap the amount of vehicles an Household owns
Therefore they would not have to park on a pavement.
Limit the number of vehicles an Household owns
Think Climate.
Whether a person rents or owns a property that is irrelevant.
Parking on a pavement blocking a walkway, and or making a Road unsafe
is not acceptable behaviour.
The tenants at Number 90 Great Preston Road should think of others and
park vehicles correctly like we all do.
If this Household own excess vehicles then they should downsize the number of
vehicles they own, therefore not causing a Road to have an issue.
All it takes is one problem family to make other persons lives a misery.
Enough is enough
Obviously the persons living at 90 Great Preston Road do not care about
other persons.
I can only assume they are uneducated.
Such a shame that a family is allowed to bring busy road to a standstill.
Maybe other motorists are not pissed off with a vehicle being parked on
the pavement outside 90 Great Preston Road making them come to a Stop
or at risk from an head on crash
Until the Council place double yellow lines outside
No.90 Great Preston Road, nothing can be done.
Until then people will have to bear with selfish B’stards parking on
Pavements.
I no longer drive along Great Preston I go via High Park Rd.
I am fed up dodging morons who park on pavements
The young lady has a problem walking far. she has several disorders, an eating one and gammy legs due to tattoo’s on her legs making them chaff badly.
So don’t keep bullying her, she knows who you are, and all posting in different names doesn’t fool her.
So if you are unhappy go back home to SA and order the locals around their IF you dare or come around to no 90 to discuss face to face.
Many drivers appear unaware about using indicators, IMO
1 way to beat last orders.
Maybe they heard it was Happy Hour
Drug driving again I bet
Kev where’s is bev or dev
why cover up the number plat when you say in the report the number plate reads OH Gosh
Because they are innocent until proven guilty apparently
But number plates are permanently on display on most cars.
But covering a naff personalised plate could be a way of trying to preserve the owner some dignity.
Many Companies drive around the Island with different
Number plates on towing trailers to the actual number plate of the
Vehicle.
I have even seen SGN and Island Roads vehicles doing this.
No one gives a f*ck
Not many road users realise the trailer lawfully needs copy of same plate as towing vehicle number plate, but as you state, who cares ??
Should have ready Golly, gosh.
Why has the editor blurred the number plate but made it the main part of the story?
OH GOSH????
As I was told innocent until proven guilty even though the car has clearly hit the pub but what do I know
Driving whilst eating distracted, chucking the takeaway out the passenger window.
Decent pub that too, proper boozer none of this gastro rubbish!
I find that quite funny except for the fact they could have mown down some pedestrians outside. Hope the Beamer is a write off, serves them right for driving like a tool.
On the junction of Falcon cross there should be a steep speed hump so vehicles
have to slow down, so many vehicles drive too fast at this junction
Very dangerous for pedestrians and other motorists.
Sadly on the Island there are no Brains when it comes to making Roads safe.
The Highways authorities and Island Roads have no idea!
The roads are not the problem… the people behind the wheel are the problem…
A noted hostelry & landmark was first opened in 1842 since then has provided quality hospitality to the town of shanklin
We are now Offering are new drive through service
Even BMW Owning tossers
Welcome
FFS! Nothing is safe from these wreckless drivers. Too much pressure on the right pedal again no doubt!
“Wreckless?” Hardly.
Trying to avoid a cat no doubt. Usually works as a defence. “Cat ran out and I thought it wiser to mount the pavement and drive into a pub.” BTW, “OH GOSH” has to be the saddest number plate ever. Perhaps replace it with “D1CCK”, which is available at a price on topreg.
Was always going to happen, the owner drives like a twat most of the time.
Coloured to I understand or heavily tinted windows
That junction is so dangerous, I have had numerous cars pull out In front of me as they were not looking, even when i have had my daughter in the car, something needs to be done about that junction,
The moral of this story is dont go into the pub when your driving !!!!!
