Homes in and around Niton and Chale along the south coast of the Island are without power this evening (Sunday).
Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) are reporting that 129 known postcodes have been affected by the outage, plunging residents into darkness.
The power cut hit the villages just before 17:00 with the majority of homes expected to be restored by 20:00.

This large-scale powercut comes hours after Yarmouth was left without power at lunchtime.
UPDATE @ 19:00 – SSEN engineers are working hard to get homes back on the grid, with them focusing their attention in the Chale and Billingham areas this evening.
In other news, homes in Yarmouth has had their power restored.
UPDATE @ 20:00 – The majority of the homes are starting to regain power, although there are still a number of homes without.
SSEN are now anticipating power will be restored to the remaining homes by 00:30 tomorrow morning.
UPDATE MONDAY – Power has been restored to all affected properties.
