UPDATED: Islanders are reporting that homes and businesses in the West Wight area are without power this lunchtime (Sunday).
Yarmouth, Shalfleet, Wellow and Thorley are some of the areas affected, with a total 86 known postcode areas currently without power.
The power cuts were reported to Southen & Scottish Electricity Networks (SSEN) at 11:36 which is also affecting some mainland areas too.
SSEN are anticipating power will be restored to the majority of homes by around 14:00.

A smaller powercut, reported to SSEN at 07:45 this morning, hit areas in and around Shorwell with 3 known post code areas affected at present, (PO30 3LL PO30 3LP PO30 3LW).
UPDATE 14:20 – The fault in Shorwell, affecting 4 homes has now been resolved.
Unfortunately, homes in and around Yarmouth may have to wait until 17:00 for the fault to be repaired.
Additionally, A further 4 more postcode areas have been affected today, this time in Newchurch.
PO36 0EY, PO36 0NR, PO36 0NS & PO36 0NT are the areas hit.
The fault in Newchurch was reported to SSEN at 12:23 and they aim to get the fault fixed by around 18:00.
UPDATE 19:00 – All homes are expected to have had power restored to their homes in Yarmouth, Shorwell & Newchurch.
