A community-voted playground for older children has been opened at the Downside Community Centre.
The playground boasts a basket swing, two normal swings, a multiplay climbing frame, a miniature skate ramp and grinding rail and a four-way spinning swing. Whilst the surface around the park means it will be able to be used all year round.
Towards the end of the last year in October Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council asked residents which additional play equipment they’d like to see at Downside Recreation Ground. Where locals were asked to give their answers and thoughts on an online survey.
This came after they added play equipment for smaller children just a few years previously.
