Step access leading to the beach at Alum Bay has been reinstated today (Thursday) ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend.
Due to erosion, the Isle of Wight Council shut off access to the seaside spot back on 20th March.
The closure of the steps by the Council meant that the only public access to the remote tourist hotspot was severed and the area was inaccessible – without paying for the chairlift – for the month or so it took to repair them.
It has now been confirmed that the steps have been repaired and are now open once again, with new wooden steps now joined to those already in place.
