UPDATED: A number of items have been seized from a property in Ventnor following a raid by the National Crime Agency (NCA).
Officers from the task force, formally known as the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA), descended on the town last Thursday (28th June) and spent several hours searching an address (undisclosed) from top to bottom.
A number of items were taken away in evidence bags.
It is unknown what prompted the search by a team of more than 10 officers as the NCA have refused to provide any further details.
A spokesperson has said:
“The National Crime Agency are conducting enquiries at an address on the Isle of Wight. This is part of an ongoing investigation.
“No further details are available at this time.”
UPDATE @ 15:30 – It has been confirmed that a male was arrested by the NCA on Thursday as part of an ‘ongoing investigation’. However, he has since been released without charge although he remains under investigation.
The National Crime Agency investigate organised crime; human, weapon and drug trafficking; cyber crime and economic crime that goes across regional and international borders, but can be tasked to investigate any crime.
