A joint operation between Cowes RNLI and The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team has resulted in the safe rescue of a mum and her 2 children after they became cut off by the tide near Gurnard earlier this afternoon (Sunday).

The alarm was raised around 15:00 when the holidaymaking trio found themselves trapped whilst walking between Thorness Bay and Gurnard.

Cowes Lifeboat was quickly on scene and was able to take the 3 casualties on board to transfer them to dry land. It’s at Gurnard Marsh beach that members of Needles CRT met with their RNLI colleagues to receive the tired mum and youngsters.
