The RNLI, HM Coastguard, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are all on scene at The Duver in St Helens in response to reports of a person stuck in the mud at Priory Bay.
Teams from Bembridge RNLI and HM Coastguard 1st assembled at the Duver car park at around 19:30 to coordinate a response and assist the casualty, located in an area between Priory Bay and Nodes Point.
They were then joined by 3 appliances from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and 2 vehicles from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service soon after.
2 people accompanying the casualty have so far been brought back by the emergency crews and have been able to walk ashore from the inshore lifeboat, but the boat has now returned laden with rescue equipment to rescue the casualty who remains stuck in the mud up to his waist.
UPDATE @ 20:45 – With the light starting to fade, a communications antenna has been erected and lights may need to be despatched to the scene as a male casualty remains stuck up to his waist.
A further 4 firefighters have been transported around the headland by lifeboat to assist in the ongoing rescue.

Tonight’s incident is the 3rd in recent weeks – all in the same landslip area at Nodes Point.

When will these philanthropists learn the Solent can be a cruel mistress, get yourself indoors before lights out. It’s the only way to be safe these days. We can’t all be ambidextrous…Steve

Why would you humiliate yourself, even anonymously, when your grasp of English is less than a 6 year old Sun reader?
Why don’t people take care where they are walking ???? All the Emergency crews having to rescue them because of sheer idiocy!!!!
Hello that’s why they are called rescue TEAM
But should they really be tasked and risk their own lives, with lemmings who know that if you play on landslip there you stand high chance of being sucked into the mud!!! With commen sense like that better they are removed from Dna, pool altogether!?.
