UPDATED: Emergency services are dealing with a road traffic collision on Forest Road on the outskirts of Newport this morning (Monday).

The incident has occurred at the crossroads junction with Whitehouse Road and Betty Haunt Lane and is thought to involve a motorcyclist.

The road has been closed in both directions whilst paramedics tend to the injured.

UPDATE @ 12:03 – A 30-year-old male motorcyclist has been conveyed the short distance to St Mary’s Hospital for further assessment and treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A Toyota Prius – displaying P plates – is understood to have collided with the motorcycle, throwing its rider to the ground. The mainland visitors have escaped injury.

Forest Road has now re-opened under Police direction, however traffic remains heavy in the area.
