Yarmouth RNLI went to the aid of a 30ft motor yacht aground at Newtown this morning (Saturday) – and again at midday.
At just before 09:30 the volunteer crew of Yarmouth RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat were tasked to launch by Solent Coastguard following a report that a motor yacht was firmly aground in Newtown Creek.
Once on scene it was decided to launch the on-board Y Boat to assess the situation. The crew concluded that they would need to await high water in order to re-float the stranded vessel.
The lifeboat returned to station, then launched again at midday and was able to successfully complete the mission to tow the yacht clear.
