Good job it’s a novelty line and no one actually relies on it to get to work.
Never mind, they will all be on strike soon anyway
You do know that the staff on our little toy railway are paid the same as ‘proper’ train staff on the mainland?
And they want to strike for more pay?!
Get your facts right geez.
The local staff voted against strike action. Typical island mentality.
BUT they will still except the wage increase tho.
Wrong I’m afraid
Pays to remember these drivers have to take copious exams and tests as equal to any mainland operators and they’re pretty rigorous in scope to put it mildly. A Camberwick Green style network it may be compared to London routes, and probably the perfect IOW job tbh, but no way does it detract from the high calibre of personnel who are fortunate enough and indeed capable enough of obtaining these very ‘proper positions’.
Wrong I’m afraid
As I understand it the staff on the Island Line have chosen not to strike. All credit to them.
Why don’t they hire more staff ?
(Sorry, just thinking out loud).
Because they would need brains to work that one out.
Probably because more staff would mean they’d lose more money.
The level of ignorance in some of these comments is truly impressive. The staff on “our little toy railway” actually get paid less than their mainland colleagues, they are not going on strike and they have recently employed new staff that are currently undergoing training.
Oh, so you mean yet another Mainland Company is paying it’s Island staff less than others who IN EFFECT do the same jobs?!
Cannot understand why millions were spent on the Island lines. It cannot make money, scrap
it a nd make it a proper cycle/walk way.
Why don’t they just make it a driverless system like the DLR?
Can someone tell me why there are 2 drivers on the train, one at the front and the other at the back, the old trains just had the one driver, why 2?
The other person is the conductor FOOL .
No he’s not you horrible man, if you are a man that is!!!!! Both drivers are in their cabs, the conductor is on the train, I see them going past my window, FOOL
You are wrong. The guard sits in the rear can. You know nothing so shut up stupid.
Their really is no educating pork.
Good job there not self employed like a lot of people or on the other hand if they were they wouldn’t be so keen to throw sickies as and when they felt like it
Should have just tarmac’d the lot and put two battery shuttle buses on it. ONLY would then need a driver in each, which anyone could drive, no expensive tracks, no dangerous electric lines to maintain.
NO more problems for the two or three customers either
Just sack the lot of them and get rid of the railway. Just make a covered walkway for public. Then at least reliability is down to the people who need to get from one end of pier to other.
