Concerns a missing person may have been in the water off Ventnor prompted the immediate launch of Bembridge’s All Weather Lifeboat earlier this evening (Friday).
At just before 18:30, Solent Coastguard paged the volunteers of Bembridge RNLI to man the lifeboat in response to the search for a missing person in the Ventnor area.
This was an immediate launch and saw the lifeboat hit the water within just 10 minutes.
Simultaneously, Coastguard Rescue Teams from Ventnor and Bembridge were tasked to the Esplanade at Ventnor.
The missing person was located before the All Weather Lifeboat could cross Sandown Bay to reach the search area.
All search and rescue assets were quickly stood down.
Meanwhile, in Newport, Police have been involved in the search for a missing woman.
At just before 16:30, officers responded to the Travelodge on Lugley Street where the missing woman was located.
2 ambulances from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service also responded to the hotel.
