Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are tending to a motorcyclist who has been injured in a collision with a car in Niton this morning (Friday).
The incident, which has seen a Mini One collide with a scooter, has occurred on Chatfield Road.
The main road connecting the villages of Niton and Whitwell is currently blocked in both directions.
Southern Vectis is advising that its Route 6 bus is currently stuck and is unable to return. As a result, the 10:05 will be heavily delayed.
UPDATE @ 10:11 – Police have in the past few minutes arrived at the crash, which is understood to have occurred at around 09:40.
UPDATE @ 10:28 – Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that they were called at 09:42. Minor injuries have been reported.
The road is expected to re-open shortly upon completion of the recovery of the vehicles involved.
This latest incident is the 3rd of the day so far, with a motorcyclist seriously injured on Fairlee Road this morning and 2 cars left the carriageway on Brading Down Road around 30 minutes later.
UPDATE @ 10:34 – The crash has now been cleared and the road has re-opened.
Southern Vectis’ Route 6 bus is back underway, albeit with 40 minute delays.
Hope the scooter rider is ok.
You need to learn your math. Called at 9:42 arrived just before 10:11. For a non serious accident. That is a reasonable response.
Umm police arrived after 29 minutes going to niton no less. crash happened at 9.42am and police arrived at 10.11am according to ie update, unless I can’t tell the time or count.. where does it say the police arrived over an hour later???
I can’t see any mention of an hour for police to arrive you need to learn to read what’s there not make it up
