Wightlink’s Fishbourne to Portsmouth car ferry service is delayed this morning (Monday) due to a medical emergency on board with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance scrambled to the scene.
The incident has occurred on the St Clare with a woman being taken ill and requiring medical assistance.
The ferry company is advising of 60-minute delays on the busy route which will be taking thousands of festival-goers back to the mainland.
UPDATE @ 13:00 – The Air Ambulance has left the scene with the casualty – who suffered a cardiac arrest – heading to St Mary’s Hospital in a land ambulance. Other emergency services in attendance have now stood down.
Although the incident is over delays are still ongoing at the moment as disruption to Wightlink’s fully booked services continue.
Rival ferry company Red Funnel also reported delays this morning causing chaos for thousands of festival revellers on their return home to the mainland.
