MECHANICAL ISSUE FORCES WIGHTLINK TO OPERATE A REVISED TIMETABLE

Cross-Solent operator Wightlink are to run a revised timetable on Friday, Sunday and Monday due to a mechanical problem with one of their vessels – thought to be the brand new Victoria of Wight.

Those travelling to and from the Isle of Wight via Fishbourne will face disruption over the next few days as Wightlink work to rectify the problem.

Wightlink have not yet confirmed which vessel in their fleet has suffered the mechanical breakdown, but it is clear from AIS tracking that Victoria of Wight – the brand new £30million car ferry – has not moved all day having been moored up at Portsmouth Gunwharf.

St Clare, St Faith and St Cecilia continue to operate the busy service. But the route is already a ship down as a Wight-Class ferry that has been used between Fishbourne and Portsmouth has now been taken back to the Wightlink’s Yarmouth route following a fire on board Wight Sky last month, which has rendered it out of action.

Wightlink has apologised for any changes to customer’s travel plans.
