A manhunt is underway on the Isle of Wight tonight (Saturday) for a wanted male who has stolen a boat and at least 2 vehicles in a desperate bid to evade capture.
Island Echo understands the individual stole a boat from the Keyhaven area on the mainland with the intention of leaving the UK by sailing to France, before soon running aground at Yarmouth.
The male is understood to have then stolen a Ford Transit van and proceeded to Broad Lane in Shalcombe, where he crashed into a number of vehicles on a driveway and attempted to gain entry to a house, but failed.
The van was found a short distance away in Brighstone Forest off Lynch Lane.
Now, another incident has occurred but this time in Cowes – thought to involve the same wanted male. It’s currently unclear how he has got from Brighstone to Cowes.
At just before 21:00, an unidentified person entered a family home on Albert Road in Gurnard and stole a bunch of keys before making off in a car parked on the driveway. Neighbours were alerted to the commotion when the vehicle reserved up the road at speed.
The white Fiat Punto has since been located parked outside a house on Place Road, opposite The Range. It’s thought the man has attempted to make entry to yet another property.
A number of Police vehicles are present in the Cowes area tonight and the Punto is to be seized.
The wanted individual is described as white, early 30s, around 5’10”, clean shaven and of medium build, according to sources.
The advice being given is not to approach the man but to call Police immediately on 999.
UPDATE @ 22:30 – It is understood that an arrest has taken place and 1 male is now in custody at Newport Police Station.
The stolen Fiat has been recovered from the scene for forensic analysis.
Hampshire Constabulary has been approached for a statement.
UPDATE SUNDAY – A 30-year-old man from Dorset has been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, Police have confirmed.

Another criminal mastermind….
To be fair, I don’t think I could steal two cars and a boat in one night. I agree with your statement.
What on earth is going on at the moment? There’s been numerous high speed police chases this week, now this. Are we taking part in a Hollywood movie?
Yes its “The Keystone Cops Ride Again”
Looks like he didn’t have a reasonable excuse to travel over from the mainland, so something else to add to his list of offences.
I can’t help but laugh at the fact he tried to go to France and found himself in Yarmouth.
Yes, if what he did wasn’t so serious, it would be funny. He managed to run aground too!!! Excellent work by the Police, catching this numpty.
Maybe the idot thought he had got to France
Ah! Bonjour M’sieu, et Bienvenue a la Ville de Yarmouth!
He is not good at this crime malarkey is he!
What was he originally wanted for I wonder?
If you want to get away always good to end up on an island
Well done to the Police. Unfortunately after all the expense and effort of the authorities the magistrates will just give him a suspended sentence and a £34 surcharge.
Or they might just send him on a thinking course instead!
006 COMING TO A CINEMA SOON
Did he really reserve up the road?
Perhaps he was looking for the fixed link, couldn’t find it so nicked a boat, pesonaly I think he has a screw loose…
Is this the same 30 year old from Dorset previously reported as missing ? Or a coincidence ?
I thought that as well 2 much of a coincidence.
Description fits .
Hahaha thought he was going to France and ended up in Yarmouth!
What a plonker and to top it off he got caught – classic.
