Police on the Isle of Wight are looking for a man who turned up to a pub armed with a machete yesterday afternoon (Saturday).
The incident occurred outside The Traveller’s Joy pub on Pallance Road in Northwood at 17:15.
A large number of officers rushed to the scene following 999 reports that a man was spotted carrying a weapon, described as a machete. However, by the time they got there the individual had left the area.
A search of Cowes was carried out but the male remains outstanding at this time.
Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed no one was harmed during the incident.
Enquiries remain ongoing.
UPDATE – A statement from The Traveller’s Joy reads:
“As of today we’re only accepting customers who have pre-booked, both for food and drink.
“We apologise for any inconvenience, but we want everybody to stay and feel safe, while at The Travellers Joy.”

A large number of officers rushed to the Travellers’ Joy. Well who can blame them?
I’ve heard their burgers are really tough, but a machete????? That’s a bit too much.
Probably why the man Burgered off before the police got there…
