A man has been rushed to hospital under Police escort after sustaining injuries at a property in the village of St Helens this afternoon (Monday).
5 Police units and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service responded to a property on Downs View Road at just before 14:30 after concerns were raised for the welfare of a male, who is thought to have been in possession of a knife.
By 15:10, Police escorted an ambulance away from the scene to St Mary’s Hospital under blue lights and sirens.
Officers have been seen going in and out of the terraced property with evidence bags. Locals have been told there are no wider safety concerns.
A woman and her dog were seen leaving the area in a Police car a short while ago.
A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has said:
“Police were called at 14:25 on Monday, 24 April to reports of a concern for welfare of a man at an address on Downs View Road, St Helens.
“The man had sustained injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment”.

So many people to dis like Jim comment but why this person has a knife on them why? Why Would you all think that this is ok I came from London but carrying a knife, it is a criminal offence and at the end of the day you want your friend’s and family to be safe. If not then why you even commenting on it. Sorry but just think this could be your son, daughter, grandson or granddaughter but now their the one’s that has been stabbed someone like you will want justice but why should you get it if you think its ok for for anyone to carry tools .
Have you considered that this could have been someone with dementia who had the knife. It’s more common than you would imagine, this doesn’t sound like an attack/robbery scenario…. Could even have been someone self harming.
