A man has been detained by Police after he barged past a woman and forced his way into her flat in Ryde earlier this morning (Wednesday).
Officers were called to an address on West Hill Road shortly after 08:30 following reports that an unknown male was acting strangely in a private garden, in what has been described as a public order incident.
By the time Police arrived on scene the male had entered a flat and had locked the door, resulting in officers having to smash the entranceway down in order to detain the male.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service was called to the scene and transferred the suspect to St Mary’s Hospital for assessment, accompanied by Police.
The male remains in hospital at this time.

You, Mr ‘Cleaver’, have clearly never experienced a mental health issue. Lets hope that when you do that there are people more caring than you to help you out.
don’t excuse the low life – he forced his way into someones home – how about some deranged lunatic forces there way into your home -see how you respond.
Never a good situation and must have been very frighting for the lady. I hope shes getting some support and not been left to ‘deal’ with this on her own.
It appears he tried it before, the management agency where our daughter lives called to say a man was seen trying to get into the block where she lives. Just hope he gets sorted out with his problems.
