An Island-based funeral director has closed its Ryde branch as they look to centralise local operations.
Hamilton & Marshall Funeral Directors, located on High Street in Ryde, closed its doors last month.
It has now been confirmed to Island Echo that the move to close the Ryde branch is to enable Hamilton & Marshall to centralise operations to the main branch in Newport.
The other branch – which is now the only one left on the Island – is located on Medina Way in the County Town, just off the dual carriageway.
Louise Nicholls, Hamilton & Marshall Business Leader, has said:
“We can confirm the closure of our Ryde branch of Hamilton & Marshall Funeral Directors.
“All funeral plans held at our Ryde branch of Hamilton & Marshall, have been transferred to our main branch of Hamilton & Marshall, Newport.
“Any ashes that families have asked us to retain have been transferred respectfully to our Newport Branch.
“If anyone has any concerns or questions they can get in touch with the team at Hamilton & Marshall, Medina Way, Newport on 01983 478 989.”

They a branch in Lake!!
Co op next Ryde branch been shut for months.
But then again wouldn’t use corporate companies for this kind of service.
They also have a branch at Ventnor that used to be Ingrams or is that also dead?
The Co-op and Dignity are well known for opening premises near as possible to existing family funeral directors to try and put them out of business, people are under impression that because its the Co-op an old fashioned business they must be cheaper than others but they are not , they are much more expensive than family run ones and try to sell you things you don’t need for a funeral, they have targets to meet or else they get reprimanded from head office.
That window display could do with some work. Looks very depressing to me.
