A potentially harmful refrigerant leaking from a domestic fridge led to a call out for Freshwater’s retained firefighters earlier tonight (Saturday).
1 retained crew was mobilised to an address in the West Wight after fire control were alerted to the unusual situation.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus to safely remove from the appliance from the property.
Safety advice was given to the householder.
Let us hope that this is not now used as a scam to get strong men to dump your fridge for free knowing the tip is shut, and there is a ‘charge’ to dump commercial fridges freezers.
Now people will just break the pipe, get the fire service to take it away.
These lads have enough to do, without removing pies and yoghurts from fridges on a Saturday night.
The appliance won’t be taken away by fire, just moved to open air for safety, the appliance still stays in the garden etc.

Mind with some from social housing, likely will still be in the garden 3 years from now, with a lot more junk added.
Fed up with those given a subsidised home, all repairs done, and usually having the most time on their hands, letting their gardens, and likely the interiors being abused and turned into tips.
Those who abuse gardens need kicking out into a flat, and let those people who would love a garden to have a chance.
Sofas, old furniture, and other junk left out for months in many charity paid for houses gardens.
Don’t deserve a shed let alone a home.
