This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

Monday 9th January – Friday 13th January 2023
• Andrew Barnes, 48, of Sandcove Rise, Seaview pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, drink driving (42) and driving whilst disqualified. He was handed a 20-week prison sentence and was banned from driving for 38 months. He was ordered to pay a £154 surcharge.
• Drew Whittaker, 20, of Culver Parade in Sandown, pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He was ordered to pay £500 compensation and was made subject to a 24-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work and 10 rehabilitation days attached, with 19 days thinking skills activity requirement. Separately he also pleaded guilty to criminal damage.
• Roy Baker, 68, of Perowne Way in Sandown, pleaded guilty to drink driving (88). He was disqualified from driving for 22 months and made subject to a 12-month community order with 70 hours of unpaid work. He was ordered to pay £85 costs with a £114 surcharge.
• Levi Aaron Randall, 27, of Chandler Close in Newport, admitted the commission of a further offence during the period of a suspended sentence order. He was fined £50. The suspended sentence was not activated as the court took into account that the defendant had not offended for 12 months and was making good progress whilst showing genuine remorse.
• Cameron Younie, 18, of Westfield Park, Ryde pleaded guilty to drug driving (cannabis). He was banned from driving for 12 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay costs of £85 with a £48 surcharge.
He also pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug of Class B (cannabis). No separate penalty was given.
• Gino Randall, 34, of Chandler Close, Newport pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug of Class B (cannabis). He was fined £80 and ordered to pay a £32 surcharge.
• Levi Randall, 27, of Dubbers, Godshill, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug of Class B (cannabis). He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs.
• Shannon Sheppard, 21, of Sun Place, Ryde pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention. She was handed 9 penalty points on her licence, fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.
• James Hughes, 24, of Flitcroft Gardens, Lake pleaded guilty to driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and using a motor vehicle without third party insurance. He was handed 8 points on his licence, fined £300 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £34 surcharge.
• Luke Wright, 19, of Old Road, East Cowes pleaded guilty to drink driving (78 – e-scooter). He was banned from driving for 20 months, fined £346 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £138 surcharge.
• Frederick Medway, 31, of Atherley Road, Shanklin pleaded guilty to 3 counts of obstructing/resisting a constable in the execution of their duty and 1 counts of using threatening / abusive words / behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs.
• Mark Gulliver, 53, of Flitcroft Gardens, Sandown pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug of Class B (cannabis). He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.
• Owen Moore, 23, of York Avenue, East Cowes pleaded guilty to speeding (85mph in a 60mph limit). He was banned from driving for 6 months, fined £230 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.
• Dylan Ratje-irving, 19, of The Finches, Newport pleaded guilty to speed (73mph in a 30mph limit). He was banned from driving for 3 months, fined £323 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.
• Chloe Coombs, 30, of Station Road, Brading pleaded guilty to drink driving (88). She was banned from driving for 22 months, fined £150 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £60 surcharge.
Warrants
• Kyle Parry, 26, of Blackthorn Close or Esplanade in Ryde for failing to surrender to police/court bail and assault a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm. Found guilty on 17th November 2022.
• James Byrne, 27, of Marlborough Road in Ryde for drug driving (x2) and possession of a sheath knife in a public place.
• Dean Tomkins, 38, of Broadway, Sandown for care worker ill-treat / wilfully neglect an individual.

Looks like the Randall’s had a nice family outing to the Courts.
So do 25mph over limit on Milli Rd in middle of knowwhere and 50% of other drivers do the same -he gets 6mth ban. Yet do over double ( 73mph )speed limit in a 30,built up area where no one would do this and get only 3mth ban . ???????
Agreed, and a 20 month ban for being over the drink drive limit on an e scooter sounds harsh
