This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

Monday 2nd January – Friday 6th January 2023
• Lewis Jay Cameron, 22, of Medway in Lake, had a suspended sentence activated for the commission of a further offence whilst on a suspended sentence. He was sentenced to 8 weeks.
• Ian Hampton, 58, of Sandcroft Avenue, Ryde pleaded guilty to driving on a road a motor vehicle whilst not wearing a seat belt. He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £32 surcharge.
• Lewis Cameron, 23, of Charnwood Close, Newport pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen – person in charge of vehicle, using a motor vehicle on a road / public place without third party insurance. He was handed 10 points on his licence and fined £120, as well as being ordered to pay £85 costs and a £96 surcharge.
• Emma Elliott, 34, of Beatrice Terrace, Victoria Road, Newport pleaded guilty to drink driving (136). She was banned from driving for 32 months and made subject to a 18-month community order with 200 hours of unpaid work and 20 rehabilitation days attached. She was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £114 surcharge.
• Martin Stringer, 57, of Regent Street, Shanklin pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug of Class B (cannabis). He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £32 surcharge.
• James Wharton, 35, of Hunnyhill, Newport pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug of Class A (cocaine), possession of a controlled drug of Class A (MDMA) and possession of a controlled drug of Class B (cannabis). He was fined £450 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £160 surcharge.
• Bertram Bristow, 24, of The Diggings, St. Helens pleaded guilty to drink driving (56). He was banned from driving for 15 months, fined £366 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £146 surcharge.
• Calvin Thistlewood, 34, of Church Road, Havenstreet pleaded guilty to being in charge of motor vehicle – alcohol level above limit (88). He was handed 10 points on his licence, fined £438 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £175 surcharge.
• David Rolf, 40, of Windmill Close, Ryde pleaded guilty to 2 counts of obstructing/resisting a constable in execution of duty and 1 of being drunk and disorderly in a public place. He was made subject to a 12-month community order with 40 hours of unpaid work and 10 rehabilitation days attached. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £114 surcharge.
• Joshua Buckle, 30, Seaview Lane, Nettlestone pleaded guilty to drug driving (Benzoylecgonine and Cocaine) and using a motor vehicle without third party insurance. He was banned from driving for 12 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £42 surcharge.
• Ethan Lyne, 22, of Farm Lane, East Cowes pleaded guilty to drink driving (74). He was banned from driving for 18 months, fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £80 surcharge. There was no separate penalty for failing to surrender to bail.
• Michael Bishop, 42, of St Michaels Avenue, Ryde pleaded guilty to 2 counts of assault by beating and 1 counts of using threatening / abusive / insulting words / behaviour to cause harassment / alarm / distress. He was handed a 20-week prison sentence, suspended for 24 months, and was ordered to undergo mental health treatment for 24 months with 40 rehabilitation days. He was ordered to pay £700 compensation.
• Joseph Long, 39, of William Street, Ryde pleaded guilty to 2 counts of assault by beating and 1 count of criminal damage.. He was ordered to pay £650 costs. He was handed a 14-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months and also handed a 12-month restraining order. He was ordered to pay £300 compensation.
• Martin Kirwood-slack, 43, of Sydney Close, Newport pleaded guilty to drink driving (69). He was banned from driving for 18 months, fined £633 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £253 surcharge.
• Kieran Galvin, 23, of New Street, Newport pleaded guilty to drink driving (80) and using a motor vehicle without third party insurance. He was banned from driving for 22 months, fined £270 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £108 surcharge.
Warrants
• Jason Goulding, 53, of Tulse Hill in Ventnor, for drink driving (106). Found guilty on 5th January.
• Robert McCamley, 42, of Green Street in Ryde for 10 counts of theft from a shop.


























































































Its not the users that have the drugs it’s the dealers who you should clamp on then the users would not be able to get the drugs.
