This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

Monday 19th July – Friday 23rd July 2021
• Sean Michael Gower, 30, of Newlyn Way, Port Solent was fined £2,000 and ordered to pay £3,953 costs for breaking the Cowes Harbour speed limit putting the Red Funnel ferry in danger and a separate offence of impeding the passage of the Red Funnel ferry. He was also ordered to pay a £190 surcharge.
• Joseph George Hughes, 34, of Victoria Road in Cowes was fined £200 for possession of cocaine. He was ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge. He was fined a further £50 for commission of a further offence whilst on a suspended sentence.
• Sasha Nolan, 20, of Harding Road in Ryde, pleaded guilty to assault. She was fined £120 for ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.
• Alan Cassford, 20, of Pitt Street in Ryde, pleaded guilty to 6 charges of assault by beating, 5 charges of criminal damage, 1 charge of assaulting an emergency worker and 1 charge of assault. He was handed down a 4 month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months. He was ordered to pay a total of £1000 compensation.
• Natasha Molly Dawn Pink, 25, of Forest Close in Newport was fined £80 for possession of £375 worth of cannabis. She was fined a further £40 for possession of pregabalin tables, a Class C drug.
• Scott Patrick Riley, 50, of Wood Street in Ryde was ordered to pay £300 compensation for 3 counts of assault by beating, 1 count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and 1 count of possession of a Class B drug. He was also fined £50 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £95 surcharge.
• Maurice Reginald Hammond, 43, of Arthur Street in Ryde, admitted a number of offences including assault and criminal damage. He was given a 16-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. He was also made subject to a 12-month community order with an alcohol treatment requirement for 6 months. He was ordered to pay £85 costs with a £128 surcharge.
• Nino Cavanagh, 28, of Kestrel Way in Carisbrooke, pleaded guilty to using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour with intent to cause fear of/provoke unlawful violence. He was made subject to a 12-month community order with 40 hours of unpaid work attached. He was ordered to pay £85 costs.
• Daniel Poole, 48, of Albany Road in Newport, pleaded guilty to drink driving (61). He was disqualified from driving for 17 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.
• Sheraz Hussain, 25, of Mill Road in Gillingham, Kent pleaded guilty to drink driving (74). He was disqualified from driving for 20 months, fined £461 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £46 surcharge.
• Jack Hinch, 18, of Brighstone Road, Brighstone admitted drink driving (67), driving a motor vehicle otherwise in accordance with a licence and using a vehicle without third party insurance. He was disqualified from driving for 17 months, fined £240 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.
• Scott Cooper, 32, of Leed Street in Sandown pleaded guilty to common assault of an emergency worker and possession of a Class B drug. He was fined £120, ordered to pay £50 compensation and costs of £85 with a £34 surcharge.
• Grace Downer, 22, of High Park Road, Ryde, admitted drink driving (203 in blood). She was disqualified for 22 months and fined £425, as well as being ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.
• Taylor Bates, 21, of Wellington Road in Binstead pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place. He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharfge.
• Lyam Ringer, 21, of Heath Road in Lake pleaded guilty to assault by beating. He was fined £184 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.
• Daniel Farrell, 44, of Spanners Close, Chale admitted breaching a non-molestation order. He was given a 12-month community order with 40 hours unpaid work attached. He was also handed a restraining order and told to pay costs of £85 with a £95 surcharge.
• Brandon Atkins, 21, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to using violence to secure entry to premises, assault by beating and criminal damage. He was given a 12 week prison sentence and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £128 surcharge.
• Terence Perkins, 36, of Green Street in Ryde, pleaded guilty to sending an offensive/indecent/obscene/menacing message/matter by public communication network and using threatening/abusive/insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment/alarm/distress. He was given a 6 week prison sentence and ordered to pay costs of £85 with a £128 surcharge.



























































































No prison sentence but at least everyone in Ryde now knows Cassford is a creepy woman beater. No girl in her right mind would go near him – keep yourself and your kids safe!
Glad to see that the fines for the Red Funnel incident were commensurate with the trouble he caused. One query though – does Red Funnel get any of this, or will they pursue him in the Civil Courts?
